The Time-Consuming Journey
Completing the iconic achievement “What a Long, Strange Trip it’s Been” in World of Warcraft requires conquering eight other meta-achievements associated with the game’s major holidays. While players debate which leg is the hardest, it is unanimously agreed that time is the biggest obstacle in achieving all of WoW’s holiday accomplishments.
The Elusive Elders
Among the holiday achievements, the Lunar Festival’s “To Honor One’s Elders” is considered the most time-consuming. Locating the scattered Elders throughout Azeroth demands significant time and attention compared to other holiday objectives. Unlike the easily accessible Hallow’s End candy buckets and Midsummer Fire Festival’s fires, Lunar Festival elders are spread across various zones, making it a more demanding task.
Brewfest’s Time Sink
While not necessarily difficult, the Brewfest meta-achievement, “Brewmaster,” is notorious for being extremely time-consuming. In the past, it required players to sample 12 brews from the Brew of the Month Club over the course of a year. Missing a brew during a specific month meant waiting for several Brewfests to complete the achievement. Fortunately, this requirement has been removed, streamlining the process.
The Challenge of Children’s Week
The toughest holiday achievement, according to the WoW community, was “For the Children” associated with Children’s Week. Previously, the achievement “School of Hard Knocks” posed a significant challenge. It required players to bring their adopted orphan into battlegrounds and accomplish tasks like assaulting a base in Arathi Basin and returning a flag in Warsong Gulch. The intense competition within battlegrounds made this achievement particularly difficult. However, it was removed as a requirement in 2022, making Children’s Week easier to complete.
Upcoming Holiday Challenges
Currently, Hallow’s End is ongoing in WoW, offering players the opportunity to earn the “Hallowed be thy Name” meta-achievement. The next major achievement event will be the Feast of Winter Veil, starting in December.
