Valve’s Stubbornness Leaves CS2 Players Wanting More
Valve’s refusal to listen to the community has left players of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) frustrated and longing for much-needed features in the game’s Deathmatch mode. Despite repeated requests, one reasonable suggestion for a side switch button to enhance practice remains unaddressed.
In a Reddit post on October 29th, a player named u/sniper13g proposed that Valve should add a button allowing players to switch between the Counter-Terrorist and Terrorist buy menus in CS2’s Deathmatch mode. This would enable players to use any weapon of their choice, regardless of the side they initially choose.
Unfortunately, players are convinced that Valve will never consider implementing this much-needed feature. As one commenter aptly put it, “Pretty sure that’s Valve’s motto: ‘Hey good idea community! Not gonna do it.'” Regrettably, they may be right.
This idea of a side switch button has been circulating since the days of CS:GO, but Valve has consistently ignored it. As one player pointed out, “I’ve been seeing the same suggestions for CS2 on repeat for 7 years, and they still haven’t been implemented. Valve doesn’t care one bit lmfao.”
Some players speculate that Valve wants them to practice with Counter-Terrorist-exclusive weapons like the M4A1 and SG-550. “They just like to do what they want, and if there’s an argument to be made, they’ll have it their way,” one player guessed. “With DM, their argument would probably be that people should get better with CT guns.”
In addition to the buy menu restrictions, players have also highlighted other issues with the Deathmatch mode in CS2. These include the easily exploitable spawn protection feature, unreasonable spawn points that lead to immediate multi-enemy fights upon spawning, and more.
Other reasonable requests have also been made, such as automatically reloading weapons after a kill and improving the health bar to make it easier for players without having to rely on med kits.
Some players even suggest adding all weapons to one buy menu for Deathmatch, eliminating any restrictions. “I don’t know if it’s technically possible, but yeah, it would be great if they remove CT/T side and add every gun in the game to Deathmatch for all players,” one player suggested.
While Valve may eventually address these requested features in the Deathmatch mode as quality-of-life updates, it is impossible to predict when this will happen.
