Cedric “RpK” Guipouy, a well-known player in the Counter-Strike community, has announced his return to professional gaming. After retiring in September 2021 and opening a garage shop, RpK Motorsport, the French player has decided to make a comeback. Despite not playing an official match for over two years and being past his prime, RpK’s desire to compete again seems to have been reignited.
It remains unclear what prompted RpK’s decision, but it is possible that his participation in a showmatch during the BLAST Paris Major in May reminded him of the excitement of being a professional player. However, finding a team may prove challenging for RpK as he has only played for French teams throughout his career and may face language barriers if he is not willing to communicate in English.
While RpK may not be the ideal choice for top teams at the moment, he could still contribute to the French scene by mentoring younger players and sharing his experience. As a player who has won championships in both Counter-Strike: Source and CS:GO, RpK has the potential to bring valuable knowledge and guidance to a new team.
If RpK does find a new team in CS2, he will have the opportunity to achieve a rare feat of winning championships across three editions of Counter-Strike. Currently, the only player who has accomplished this is karrigan from FaZe Clan. With the CS2 scene just beginning, there is a chance for RpK to make his mark once again.
