Esports organization OTK took Halloween to a whole new level by hosting a spine-chilling World of Warcraft Classic dueling tournament. This unique event featured intense battles to the death, with a $100,000 prize pool at stake. The winner walked away with a staggering $50,000.
To qualify for the 64-player bracket, participants had to prove their skills. After nearly eight hours of intense competition, only one player emerged victorious amidst a graveyard of over 60 fallen opponents. It was none other than the formidable Warlock, Snutzy, a well-known figure in the WoW PvP esports scene.
The tournament garnered significant attention, with over 100,000 viewers tuning in to watch the co-stream on Asmongold’s Twitch channel. Esfand’s main Twitch channel also maintained a steady viewership of over 20,000 throughout the broadcast. Many of the competitors shared their perspectives, attracting thousands of viewers to their individual streams.
In addition to Snutzy’s triumph, other renowned players from the World of Warcraft PvP community participated in the event. The final four contestants included Ziqo as a Mage, Sonii as a Warrior, and Hydra, a popular Classic Priest player. Each of these players received a share of the prize pool, with at least $6,250 awarded to them.
Recognizing the impact of class matchups in Classic duels, OTK allocated half of the prize pool to reward the player from each class who progressed the furthest. The semi-finalists who played as a hunter, druid, and shaman also received cash prizes. Unfortunately, no Rogues made it past the second round, resulting in a tie for the top Rogue spot.
While it remains uncertain when OTK will organize a similar event in the future, the dominance displayed by Snutzy and the thrilling battles showcased in this tournament will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. The sheer number of characters eliminated during this competition suggests that it may take some time before anyone is ready to face the formidable Snutzy again.
