The highly anticipated Pokémon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk DLC is set to release on December 14th. Nintendo has provided players with important information on what they need to complete in the game before diving into this exciting second expansion.
If you’re eager to embark on The Indigo Disk DLC but haven’t finished the entire story in the Gen IX games, Nintendo has confirmed that you must complete it first before venturing into the new adventures at Blueberry Academy.

If you still have Gyms, Titan Pokémon, or Team Star bosses to defeat, be sure to check them off your to-do list before December 14th if you plan on playing through The Indigo Disk on release day.
In addition to completing Scarlet and Violet’s main story, you may be wondering if you need to play through the entire story from the first DLC as well. Without spoiling The Teal Mask’s story, it ends on an intriguing cliffhanger, so it would make sense for players to reach that point before moving on to Part II with The Indigo Disk.
Serebii’s webmaster, Joe Merrick, tweeted today following the release date announcement, stating that players will be unable to start The Indigo Disk without completing “The Way Home” and the entire storyline from The Teal Mask.
Just a reminder as we have a month to go: to start The Indigo Disk, you will need to have completed “The Way Home” AND the story in The Teal Mask. You will be unable to start it unless you’ve done that, so you have a month to finish up before it drops!
Players currently have six weeks to finish the main game and The Teal Mask, which is very doable since the first DLC is relatively short and easy if you already have a strong team or resources to build one.
The Indigo Disk promises to bring more story and content than the previous part, so make sure to catch up and get ready to enter Blueberry Academy when the second DLC releases on December 14th.
