Sledgehammer Games has announced that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will not include the Weapon Tuning feature, which allows players to customize weapon attachments, due to community feedback.
Weapon Tuning was first introduced in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, but the developer has decided to remove it in this year’s installment to make Gunsmith easier to use. This change will also affect weapons in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, although it is unclear what will happen to already modified weapons and loadouts in those games.
The developer has stated that the game will provide additional statistical knowledge when swapping between modifications. They have also made updates to the weapon filtering system and streamlined gunsmith statistics to enhance the overall experience in Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2 and is set to release on November 10th. The game’s early access campaign was made available on November 2nd for players who preordered. Reports suggest that the campaign only lasts around four to five hours, which is similar to previous titles in the series.
However, some websites have criticized the campaign, describing it as “pointless filler” and “underbaked story moments.” It was also rumored that Activision initially planned to release single-player and multiplayer DLC instead of a new game in 2023.
The impact of removing the Weapon Tuning system remains to be seen, and players will have to wait until the game launches to experience it firsthand.
