Cloud9 Retains Berserker and Vulcan, Signs Jojopyun for 2024 Season

Xavier Ward

Cloud9, the renowned North American League of Legends team, has secured the services of AD carry prodigy Berserker and superstar support Vulcan for another season. This formidable bottom lane duo will be joined by the highly anticipated mid laner Jojopyun, who is reportedly making the move from Evil Geniuses.

Berserker, Vulcan, and Jojopyun are all widely regarded as top-tier players in their respective roles within the region. Jojopyun, in particular, was honored with the Most Valuable Player award during the recent Summer Split. Vulcan, on the other hand, boasts an impressive record of six All-Pro awards, while Berserker clinched the MVP title in the spring. Together, they form a young and exceptionally talented core that promises great potential for the LCS roster.

In the previous year, Cloud9 dominated the North American scene, losing only nine regular season games and effortlessly securing victory in the 2023 Spring Split. Despite a surprising defeat in the Summer Finals against NRG Esports, they remained one of the strongest teams in the region, earning a spot at Worlds.

However, their performance at Worlds fell short as they struggled to gain momentum during the Swiss stage. Out of their four games, they only managed to secure a victory against MAD Lions, who themselves had a disappointing international run. The defeats against LNG Esports, T1, and Fnatic hindered their progress in the tournament.

With reports of these signings, Cloud9 appears to be gearing up for an eventful offseason, signaling their determination to make a significant impact in the upcoming season. This puts pressure on other LCS organizations to strategize and make their own moves to stay competitive and avoid falling behind in the race.
