Apex Legends Matchmaking System Continues to Disappoint Players

superadmin

EA’s struggles with Apex Legends’ matchmaking system seem never-ending, despite Respawn’s efforts to improve it since early 2023. However, players are still facing issues with the skill-based matchmaking system, leading to frustration and disappointment.

In a recent Reddit post, a player shared their negative experience with Apex Legends, describing the game’s matchmaking as “horrendous.” It is important to note that this player returned to the game after a year, and the matchmaking system has undergone significant changes since 2022.

Respawn had announced a major shift in early 2023, aiming to enhance matchmaking by dividing the player base into different skill levels. This was intended to create a more balanced experience for both highly ranked players and beginners. Unfortunately, these changes made ranked matches too easy, with players reporting a lack of competition in reaching the Masters rank. Respawn attempted to address this issue with additional tweaks, but the matchmaking system still fails to deliver a satisfactory experience.

Despite promises from Respawn to improve matchmaking in the current season 19, players have not noticed any significant changes so far. Many players are now calling for a return to the old ranked system, although it seems unlikely to happen at this point.

Some players attribute the issues with matchmaking to the rumored engagement-optimized matchmaking (EOMM) system, which Respawn and EA allegedly implemented in Apex Legends since 2020. According to one player, this system manipulates games to favor certain outcomes, leading to frustrating experiences. However, Respawn has denied implementing EOMM in Apex Legends.

The current state of Apex Legends’ matchmaking is causing frustration among players, with some even suggesting that Respawn and EA are intentionally driving the game towards its demise. Many players feel that there is no distinction between ranked and casual matches in terms of difficulty, making the ranking system feel meaningless.

As a new player in Apex Legends, I have also experienced the frustration of being matched against highly skilled opponents in casual matches. This has made it difficult for me to enjoy the game fully. In the meantime, I find myself turning to other games like The Finals or VALORANT to maintain my sanity.

Overall, the ongoing issues with Apex Legends’ matchmaking system are causing dissatisfaction among players. Respawn and EA need to address these concerns and deliver on their promises of improving the matchmaking experience to ensure the longevity of the game.
