Pokémon Go Players Encounter Terrifying Bug During Party Play

Tim Price

Pokémon Go players are facing a new bug during Party Play that is causing terrifying encounters with Pokémon creatures. A Reddit user recently shared a screenshot of a Wooper hidden in their trainer’s shadow, completely obscuring the catch ring. This bug has sparked both concern and amusement within the Pokémon Go community.

The player who posted the screenshot identified it as a Party Play bug and called for Niantic’s attention to address the flaws in this feature. However, instead of focusing solely on the issue, the post quickly became a meme template, with players adding humorous captions to the eerie image.

One player jokingly wrote, “Wooper: ‘I’m in danger!'” accompanied by a smiley face, highlighting the creature’s nonchalant expression despite the impending danger. Others joined in, creating their own funny contexts for the picture, such as comparing it to a hot pocket staring back from the microwave.

Several players confirmed that they had also encountered this bug while using Party Play in Pokémon Go. While the original poster did not provide any details on how they encountered the bug or if they were able to catch the Wooper, other players suggested that standing too close to the Pokémon could be the cause of the issue.

It is uncertain whether Niantic will address this bug, but players are relieved that they can avoid such creepy scenes in future Pokémon Go games by simply not standing directly over the Pokémon.
