A surprise update for Call of Duty was released today, addressing various bugs and introducing a quality-of-life improvement to Warzone’s DMZ mode. The update includes fixes for known crashes, resolves the issue of players getting stuck on the “Fetching Online Profile” message, and addresses other ongoing problems in the game.
One notable change in the update is related to the DMZ mode and the ongoing Operation Nightmare event in The Haunting, which will conclude on November 6th. The update increases the total number of Active Duty Operator slots in DMZ, a change that will primarily benefit dedicated DMZ players. Previously, the number of slots was already challenging to reach, even with the maximum of 20 slots available.
Active Duty Operator slots can be obtained through expensive bundles in the CoD Store. These bundles, such as the Battle Buddy: Grim Tidings bundle ($24) and Tracer Pack: Dark Rituals III bundle ($28), provide an additional operator slot, allowing players to bring another character into DMZ.
The future of DMZ remains uncertain. Activision previously stated that they would continue to support the DMZ Beta, offering infiltration opportunities for Al Mazrah, Ashika Island, Vondel, Building 21, and Koschei Complex. However, it seems that the new map in Warzone, Urzikstan, will not be supported in DMZ. Nevertheless, once season one of Modern Warfare 3 launches in early December, DMZ is expected to incorporate the new guns from MW3.
For now, DMZ may remain relatively inactive, with occasional additions of new missions, weapons, and quests. Attention will soon shift to Modern Warfare 3, starting tomorrow and culminating in the game’s launch on November 10th.
The other significant change in the patch is a reduction in the number of Stims dropped by minions when fighting The Butcher in Operation Nightmare. Aside from these adjustments, the update primarily focuses on bug fixes.
