The popular battle royale game Apex Legends is facing a new challenge to its viewership, as ImperialHal, a prominent player, believes that the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 3 will further diminish its already declining numbers. ImperialHal is convinced that once the new and improved version of Warzone is launched alongside MW3, Apex Legends will be doomed. He expressed his concerns about the current state of viewership and player count, stating that they will only worsen with the release of the new Warzone.
ImperialHal also pointed out other factors contributing to the decline of Apex Legends. He mentioned the timing of patch releases and the lack of substantial content updates as reasons why players are losing interest. Waiting three months for a new patch that only brings minimal updates, such as a single new character, is not enough to keep players engaged.
Recent data supports ImperialHal’s concerns. In 2021, Apex Legends averaged 78,755 viewers, which decreased to 75,177 viewers in 2022. The decline continued in 2023, with an average viewership of 51,102. Currently, the game’s viewership has dwindled to around 42,717 viewers on average.
ImperialHal also expressed dissatisfaction with Apex Legends’ ranked play. He criticized the changes made in June, stating that they pushed players away. He particularly disliked the new point system, which he believed was unfair to lower-ranked players and encouraged passive gameplay.
As the release of MW3 approaches and Apex Legends prepares to launch its new season later this month, ImperialHal predicts that more Apex players may switch to MW3. The excitement surrounding MW3 is growing, and it remains to be seen how it will impact the player base of Apex Legends.
