Apex Legends’ upcoming Season 19 changes have sparked a range of reactions from pro players and streamers who were given the opportunity to test them out ahead of release. The update includes significant adjustments to the Storm Point map, balance changes, and the introduction of the new legend Conduit. While some changes were widely praised, others received a more lukewarm reception.
One change that received widespread acclaim was the adjustments made to the Storm Point map. Many players expressed their approval, with 100Thieves streamer NiceWigg stating, “Storm Point changes 10/10. Every bad POI made amazing.” Nearly half of the map was revamped, with new points of interest added and existing ones overhauled.
The ranked changes, however, received mixed reactions. This has been a contentious issue in recent seasons, with players voicing their dissatisfaction with how points are distributed in ranked games based on eliminations, assists, or survival. Furia’s coach PVPX described the ranked changes as “awful,” while NiceWigg remained hopeful but acknowledged that there is still work to be done.
In Season 19, players will need to complete promotional trials to progress from one ranked tier to the next. They will receive specific missions to accomplish in their next five games, such as finishing in the top 10.
Opinions on the balance changes were also divided. As is often the case with balance adjustments, it takes time for the community to adapt to the new meta. However, overall, pro players and streamers expressed optimism. Streamer Noko wrote, “This actually might be ‘the season’,” highlighting the positive reception of the Storm Point changes and the introduction of cross-progression, a highly-requested feature that allows players to play on all platforms without losing their collectible items and legend unlocks.
Apex Legends Season 19, titled Ignite, is set to launch on October 31. Alongside the changes mentioned, it will also introduce a new battle pass. Players have a few days left to complete their season 18 challenges before the new season begins.
