The highly anticipated season 19 of Apex Legends, titled Ignite, is just around the corner. Today, we got our first official glimpse at the abilities of the newest legend, Conduit. After months of speculation and leaks, her abilities have finally been confirmed in the Ignite launch trailer. Conduit’s kit revolves around supporting her teammates and manipulating the distance between them.
The trailer takes us through Conduit’s squad as they navigate the updated Storm Point map, engaging in intense battles with enemy teams. Throughout the trailer, we see Conduit utilizing all three of her abilities to secure victory in her opening match of the Apex Games. These abilities align closely with the recent leaks, further solidifying her supportive playstyle.
The trailer begins with Conduit unleashing beams of energy from her armor. While this sequence is presented as a dream within the game’s universe, it strongly supports the leaked ultimate ability, Alternating Current. This ability is rumored to create an indestructible wall using Conduit’s titan battery, similar to Wattson’s fences. The yellow beams in the trailer pay homage to Titanfall 2’s Ion Titan and its Tripwire ability, which also generated electric beams.
Conduit’s tactical ability, Arc Flash, allows her to heal the shields of her teammates within a certain range and line of sight. In the trailer, we witness Conduit using this ability to heal Gibraltar and Mirage after they are hit by Valkyrie’s Missile Swarm. According to leaks, Arc Flash will have multiple charges, similar to Fuse’s Knuckle Cluster or Catalyst’s Piercing Spikes. However, it may also operate on an overheat system rather than a traditional cooldown timer.
In the game’s lore, Conduit powers her abilities using a salvaged titan battery, which comes at the cost of increased radiation exposure. If this translates to gameplay, Conduit may risk damaging herself or temporarily disabling her tactical ability if she overuses the heal, similar to how the L-STAR LMG requires cooldown time after prolonged use.
Conduit’s passive ability, Capacitance, grants her a 40 percent speed boost when she is out of range to use her tactical ability on her teammates. This allows her to catch up to her squadmates quickly, as demonstrated in the trailer when she outruns Bangalore’s Rolling Thunder. Notably, Conduit’s fully covered legs in her exoskeleton armor explain how she can keep pace with Octane, another speed-focused legend who uses Stim to outrun Bangalore’s ultimate.
The official gameplay trailer for Ignite will be released on October 26th, showcasing Conduit and the updated Storm Point map. Additionally, a legend spotlight trailer is expected to provide detailed descriptions of Conduit’s abilities and demonstrate their functionality in-game.
Conduit will make her debut in Apex Legends when season 19 launches on October 31st.
