At a recent press event, design director Evan Nikolich and world director Eduardo Agostini emphasized the continued significance of lore in past, present, and future updates.
One major highlight of season 19 is the significant character moment for Wattson in the major overhaul of Storm Point. The storm that hit Storm Point not only affects the map’s design but also has a notable impact on the world around it. The infrastructure, including the lightning rod and storm catchers, has been severely damaged, resulting in a loss of energy supply to the cities of Gaea.
For Wattson, this is particularly important as Storm Point directly powered the city of Suotamo, where Crypto grew up. The Syndicate, along with Wattson, is working to restore power to Suotamo, and Wattson is personally invested in helping her friend. This personal stake is reflected in Wattson’s Town Takeover, Pylon, which is one of the six new points of interest on Storm Point in season 19.
Within Pylon, players will discover various references and Easter eggs related to Wattson’s connections with her teammates and her backstory. Additionally, there are hints of big revelations about Suotamo and the Syndicate’s plans for the city. The Syndicate has always been the malevolent force behind the scenes in Apex, and their role as the key antagonist has become more pronounced in the Kill Code series.
The emphasis on lore will continue in season 19 and beyond. The team is dedicated to expanding the lore and the world of Apex as they move into Ignite and future seasons. Players will have the opportunity to explore Storm Point and uncover the new pieces of lore when season 19 launches on October 31.
