The upcoming 19th season of Apex Legends will bring changes to the mid and long-range meta, as confirmed by Respawn Entertainment at a recent press event. The game designer, John Larson, stated that they had focused on shaking up this aspect of the game due to the dominance of the 30-30 Repeater in the ALGS and some issues with the Charge Rifle rework.
The 30-30 Repeater was the most widely used weapon in the ALGS, leading to what Larson called a “30-30 festival.” To address this, Respawn is reducing its hip-fire spam potential by increasing the recoil when fired without aiming down sights. Additionally, the Hemlok will receive a slight damage nerf.
Players will no longer be able to rely on crafting a 30-30 at Replicators, as it will return to being floor loot alongside the RE-45. This change aims to create more competition for obtaining the weapon.
In order to provide alternatives to the 30-30, Respawn will enhance the projectile size and growth of the Longbow DMR, Charge Rifle, and Sentinel. The Charge Rifle rework had unintended consequences on its usability, so the team will improve its bullet drop ballistics to make it more effective in longer-range engagements.
Surprisingly, the Bocek will also undergo some adjustments. Respawn was not satisfied with how often it was found in care package drops, so they are improving its initial draw speed. The Shatter Caps attachment for the Bocek will have a tightened blast pattern and the ability to toggle its alt-fire mode on or off.
Alongside these weapon tweaks, there will be changes to the care package and Replicator rotations. The Wingman will be added to the care package, while the R-301 and Volt will become floor loot. Players can experience these updates when Apex Legends Season 19, Ignite, launches on October 31st.
