Astralis, the renowned Danish organization, is gearing up for Counter-Strike 2 by securing their star player’s future. On October 13, they announced that dev1ce has signed a contract extension, keeping him with the team until the end of 2026. In the official announcement, dev1ce expressed his dedication to Astralis, stating that he will do everything in his power to bring the team back to their rightful place.
Dev1ce emphasized his strong connection with the organization and shared the team’s recent optimism. While they don’t set specific goals in terms of dates or titles, Astralis aims to be at the top, where playing is the most enjoyable. Dev1ce firmly believes that they will achieve this goal.
Dev1ce, at 28 years old, is undeniably the most prominent player in Astralis’ history. He played a pivotal role in their four Major victories in 2017, 2018, and 2019, which marked the “Astralis era” in CS:GO. During this period, the Danish squad dominated the scene and claimed numerous tournament wins.
Throughout Astralis’ history, dev1ce has been widely recognized as their best player. He has consistently secured a spot on HLTV’s yearly top 20 list, earning a place in the top three on five occasions. Although he briefly joined Ninjas in Pyjamas during this time, he returned to Astralis in October of last year after overcoming health issues and led the team to a successful playoff run at IEM Cologne 2023.
Given dev1ce’s remarkable comeback, it comes as no surprise that Astralis wanted to secure his services ahead of the start of CS2 esports. The first tier one tournament in the new game, IEM Sydney 2023, is set to commence on Monday, October 16.
