South American Dota 2 team, beastcoast, has parted ways with their squad just two weeks after their disappointing performance in The International groups. However, the organization has assured fans that they will continue to support Dota 2 in the region.
The news of the squad’s release came from several Facebook posts made by beastcoast members, including Elvis “Scofield” Peña, David “Parker” Nicho Flores, Gonzalo “DarkMago” Herrera, Rafael “Sacred” Yonatan, and Steven “StingeR” Vargas, who announced their free agency for the upcoming season.
While beastcoast did not issue an official statement regarding the release, they did mention in a brief statement that their players are actively seeking new talent and synergy. The organization remains committed to working with the players to help them achieve their goals.
Despite their impressive top-eight finish in last year’s TI11, beastcoast had to make roster adjustments after two players, Jean Pierre “Chris Luck” Salazar and Adrián “Wisper” Dobles, left to join Evil Geniuses. However, the team started 2023 strong by winning back-to-back DPC SA tournaments.
Unfortunately, beastcoast struggled to replicate their regional success on the international stage throughout 2023. Their best result was a sixth-place finish at DreamLeague Season 19 in April. The departure of carry player Héctor “K1” Rodríguez due to health reasons further impacted the team’s performance. K1 later joined nouns before TI 2023.
Despite receiving a direct invite to TI, beastcoast, along with the rest of South America, failed to make an impact during the group stage. They only managed to win two matches against nouns and Virtus Pro.
With the conclusion of TI 2023, the Dota scene is now on a break, giving beastcoast a month to regroup before ESL One Kuala Lumpur. During this time, they will be looking to rebuild their Dota 2 squad for the upcoming season. Following South America’s disappointing performance at TI, roster changes are expected throughout the region.
