Brazilian VALORANT Pro xand’s Future in Jeopardy After Racist Clip Resurfaces

Xavier Ward

Alexandre “xand” Zizi, a professional VALORANT player from Brazil, recently faced potential consequences for a racist clip that resurfaced from his days as a CS:GO player. Despite attending tryouts for LOUD and being considered a top free agent, xand’s future in professional VALORANT is now uncertain.

The clip, which was from a match xand played seven years ago, showed him using a Portuguese racist remark after dying to another player. The clip went viral on Twitter, leading to xand being banned from participating in the Multiplatform Esports Game (MEG) tournament and all future editions.

MEG 2023 was an opportunity for xand to showcase his skills and potentially secure a spot on a LATAM VCT team for the 2024 season. However, with the recent controversy, xand acknowledges that his future as a pro player is now up in the air.

Following MEG’s decision to ban him, xand took to Twitter to apologize for his past actions and express his desire to change. He emphasized that he is not the same person he was when the clip was recorded and vowed to prove it to everyone.

Xand, who is 28 years old, has had a successful career as an esports player. He played for FURIA and Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2022 before joining KRÜ Esports for the 2023 VCT season. Most recently, he represented 00 Nation. During his time as a CS:GO pro from 2012 to 2020, he notably attended the StarLadder Berlin Major with INTZ in 2019.
