Bunny Hopping: The Divisive Movement Tech in Modern Warfare III

Tim Price

MW3 developer Sledgehammer Games is considering bringing back bunny hopping in some form, sparking a heated debate within the Call of Duty community. While some players are excited about the potential return of this movement technique, others argue that it either already exists in the game or simply doesn’t belong in MW3. The introduction of bunny hopping would further emphasize the importance of movement in the game, a trend that has been growing in popularity among younger players but is met with resistance from those who prefer a more grounded and realistic gameplay experience.

Sledgehammer Games’ interest in adding another movement mechanic to MW3 is not surprising, given that success in multiplayer often relies more on agility than precise aiming. Many players have encountered opponents who constantly drop-shot or jump around to evade gunfire. Bunny hopping would only contribute to the game’s existing emphasis on movement.

While it remains uncertain whether Sledgehammer will ultimately implement bunny hopping into MW3, the community is divided between those who enjoy fast-paced and unpredictable movement and those who prefer the slower and more methodical gameplay of earlier Call of Duty titles.

Personally, I believe that bunny hopping would simply blend in with the rest of MW3’s multiplayer experience without adding any significant entertainment value or addressing the game’s recycled content. Perhaps the developer should prioritize fixing issues like skill-based matchmaking before introducing unnecessary movement mechanics to an already flawed game.

| Time | Score |

| Nov. 17 | Bunny hopping could return to Call of Duty in a future MW3 update. |
| Nov. 17 | Sledgehammer Games says they are looking at bringing back bunny hopping in “some form” in Modern Warfare III |
| Nov. 17 | Some players are happy about CoD getting more movement tech again, while others think bunny hopping is either already in the game in “some form,” like Sledgehammer said, or simply doesn’t belong in MW3. |
| Nov. 17 | It’s unsurprising that Sledgehammer is thinking about bringing another movement mechanic into MW3 when winning in multiplayer relies on hitting hard rather than having good aim. |
| Nov. 17 | Whether Sledgehammer implements bunny hopping into MW3 is uncertain, as they are reportedly only “looking at” this mechanic. But will bunny hopping make an impact on MW3? |
| Nov. 17 | For me, bunny hopping will simply blend in with the rest of MW3’s multiplayer. It won’t make the game more entertaining, nor save its own recycled content. Maybe the developer should fix SBMM first before adding any more unnecessary movement mechanics to an already broken game. |
