The highly anticipated game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is now playable in select regions around the world. The game’s developer, Sledgehammer Games, has also released the patch notes detailing the numerous changes and improvements made since the beta version.
The launch day patch notes are extensive, covering various aspects such as map tweaks, spawn point adjustments, new features, bug fixes, and weapon tuning. Players can expect enhancements to movement, spawns, user interface, and more.
Exciting new features have been added for the official launch that were not present in the beta. These include on-screen displays for current kill streaks, a new spot for the Tac Stance toggle, detailed match statistics, and pop-ups for impressive player accomplishments.
One of the main concerns raised during the beta was player visibility, which has been addressed in the patch. Sledgehammer Games has improved visibility by adding a stroke to player nameplates. Those unable to play the game yet can watch streams to see the difference.
Weapon balancing has also been a focus, with buffs to several assault rifles and significant nerfs to the popular Striker SMG, which was favored in the beta. The Striker (UMP 45) has seen reductions in maximum damage, near-medium damage range, near-medium damage, and minimum damage.
Aim down sight times have been adjusted for various optic types, including dots and holographics, 2.5x scopes, 4x and Hybrid scopes, and sniper scopes. All of these now have faster ADS times.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is currently available in some regions and will be released worldwide throughout the day. Console players can expect the game to become available at midnight in their local time, while PC players can access it at 11pm CT.
