Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Reveals Remastered Maps from MW2

superadmin

Ever since Call of Duty announced that Modern Warfare 3 would include remastered versions of all the maps from the original Modern Warfare 2, fans have been eagerly awaiting a glimpse of these nostalgic battlegrounds. Today, Activision has provided a first look at the improved maps, along with insights into how they have balanced preserving the familiarity of the originals while modernizing them for the new game mechanics.

In a new intel drop, Activision showcases the process of modernizing all 16 launch maps from MW2 for Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer. The aim was to create an experience that combines nostalgia with modern gameplay mechanics. Design director Zach Hodson explains that they sought to identify the strengths of movement and gunplay in both older and newer games, and then merge those elements together.

The main changes made to these classic maps focus on enhancing visual clarity and fidelity. This includes improvements in lighting, differentiating building colors, and using various materials to make areas more visible, preventing players from blending into their surroundings and catching others off guard.

In addition to visual enhancements, key elements have been added to each map to reflect the changes in movement mechanics between the original game and the upcoming installment. This includes new ledges for players to mantle onto, previously blocked-off swimmable areas now accessible, and additional ledges to facilitate more dynamic gunfights.

Overall, players familiar with the original MW2 will feel right at home in this revamped version of MW3. It serves as a beautiful homage to one of the greatest Call of Duty titles of all time.

The developers have also announced that six new six-vs-six maps will be introduced to multiplayer over the first two seasons of the game. These fresh experiences will cater to both old and new players. Additionally, the popular War Mode will make a return, offering a narrative-driven multiplayer experience with massive teams facing off against each other.

For those eagerly awaiting faithful recreations of MW2 maps, the wait is almost over. Soon, players will be able to engage in intense battles on the iconic Rust map once again.
