Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Weapons Frustrate Players in Multiplayer

Tim Price

Players of the latest edition of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3, are facing frustration with the game’s weapons in multiplayer mode. Many players have taken to social media to express confusion and disappointment over the inconsistency and ineffectiveness of their fully-equipped weapons from the previous game, Modern Warfare 2. This issue seems to be a result of power creep and changes in the game’s competitive elements.

Before the game’s release, it was announced that player health would be increased from 100 to 150 points, which affected the time-to-kill and body shot damage multipliers. While this change was initially welcomed by players, it appears that the weapons from Modern Warfare 2, which were balanced for the previous health values, have not been adjusted accordingly. As a result, these weapons are unable to compete effectively in the new game, rendering over two-thirds of the available weapons, blueprints, and upgrades outdated.

Players are frustrated that the MW2 weapons they brought over to MW3 are now practically useless, with some suggesting that they can only be used in Hardcore mode. The lack of balance in the weapons has raised questions about the purpose of including them in the game if they cannot be utilized in regular gameplay.

In addition to the weapon issues, players are also experiencing inconsistencies across matches, which they attribute to problems with aim assist, server quality, and the game’s netcode. It is possible that these issues are a result of heavy server load due to the game’s popularity, and players hope that these problems will be resolved with time.

The community’s dissatisfaction with Modern Warfare 3 extends beyond the weapon and gameplay issues. Complaints about mid-match inactivity kicks and concerns about “pay-to-win” Operator skins have further dampened the enthusiasm for the game. Players are eagerly awaiting the upcoming season one update, hoping that it will address these concerns and improve their overall gaming experience.

Please note that Sledgehammer Games, the developer of Modern Warfare 3, has not confirmed whether the MW2 weapons were left untouched. Dot Esports has reached out to them for clarification on these weapon changes and server issues but has not received a response at the time of publishing.
