Changes to Titan Abilities in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish

Xavier Ward

In the upcoming Season of the Wish in Destiny 2, players can expect some changes to their abilities, particularly if they play as a Titan. Bungie has confirmed that Banner of War, Throwing Hammer, and Sunspots will be less potent when the new season launches. These changes are part of a larger effort to tune ability uptime and potency, as well as balance the game.

Banner of War, which is one of the most commonly used Titan Aspects, will be adjusted to make it harder to stack up. Players will need to take down approximately double the number of enemy kills to get an extra stack. However, the amount of time added to the timer for each kill will be slightly increased to offset this change. Additionally, the damage reduction from Woven Mail will be reduced from 55% to 45%.

Throwing Hammer, also known as “bonk,” will see a change as well. Instead of immediately refilling ability energy, the Throwing Hammer will now refill over a period of 1.4 seconds. This change aims to discourage players from repeatedly using the ability in close proximity to bosses or Champions. Sunspots, which are created through the Sol Invictus Aspect, will also have a shorter lifespan.

The goal of these changes is not to completely nerf the Solar abilities, but rather to reduce their potency and increase the downtime between uses. The core gameplay loop of throwing a hammer and moving will remain intact, but players will have less time to abuse Sunspots as a safe haven near powerful enemies.

In addition to the changes to Solar abilities, there will also be adjustments to the Void Titan’s Ward of Dawn and the Warlock’s Well of Radiance. The cooldown for Ward of Dawn will be increased by approximately 40 seconds, while the cooldown for Well of Radiance will also be extended. These changes are aimed at mitigating their impact in PvP, and Bungie is reevaluating their place in the game’s sandbox for future releases.

Overall, these changes to Titan abilities in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish are intended to balance the game and create a more fair and enjoyable experience for all players. While some beloved elements may be toned down, the core gameplay and playstyles will still be preserved.
