Concerns about Briar’s Ability Kit in League of Legends

Derek Morgan

League of Legends fans are expressing concerns about Briar’s ability kit, which can be easily exploited by enemies to ruin her early game. One particular issue involves her W ability, called Blood Frenzy, which causes Briar to self-taunt to the nearest enemy. However, she prioritizes champions who are close to her location, which can lead to unintended consequences.

In a recent Reddit thread, a player shared an example of how an enemy toplaner was able to disrupt Briar’s first clear without much effort. When she used her W ability on the blue monster, she was automatically taunted by Yone, even though she couldn’t see him. As a result, Briar missed valuable hits while trying to run towards Yone for the entire duration of her W.

This issue can have a devastating impact on Briar’s early game, as she may be forced to run towards an enemy she can’t even see. Some players have suggested asking for their allies’ help with warding the camp to prevent such cheesing tactics.

The main concern raised by the Reddit thread’s author is that Briar cannot cancel her W ability at level 1, which makes it difficult to address this problem. They believe that Riot, the developer of League of Legends, overlooked this situation when designing Briar, leading to what they consider a “screw-up.”

While this issue primarily affects Briar’s jungle clear, it can also have dire consequences in other scenarios. One user shared an experience of an enemy Briar following them under their tower at level 1, with no way to escape or fight back.

Despite this flaw, Briar is still considered an incredibly strong jungler. Riot has already nerfed her with Patch 13.19 on September 26th, and further adjustments are likely to come in the following weeks.

However, due to her recent release date being too close to the start of the 2023 World Championship, Briar will not be seen in the tournament.
