The highly anticipated launch of Counter-Strike 2 not only marks a new era for the iconic tactical first-person shooter but also presents a fresh opportunity for competitive players and aspiring pros. FACEIT, the platform where many players refine their Counter-Strike skills, has officially introduced CS2 on its seasonal system.
Season one of CS2 on FACEIT has commenced and will culminate in the “FPL Proving Grounds,” featuring the largest prize pool ever awarded in a public matchmaking system – a staggering $100,000. The top 125 players in the Challenger rank from Europe, North America, and South America will be invited to regional Proving Ground events.
Today marks the beginning of FACEIT Season 1! Here’s what you can expect:
– A $100,000 prize pool for level 10 players
– Four-month seasons
– Seasonal Elo soft-resets
– A brand-new and free FPL Qualifier

Most notably, the three highest-ranking players at the end of FPL Proving Grounds will receive direct invitations to the FACEIT Pro League, an exclusive solo queue league comprising the absolute best players in the system. This league boasts numerous professional players and offers over $50,000 in monthly prizes. The selection of these top players will be determined through a voting process involving CS legends, player participants, and the community. Additionally, those who reach the FPL via Proving Grounds will receive a monthly stipend to support their journey towards reaching the highest professional levels of Counter-Strike.
Prior to the establishment of the Proving Grounds path-to-pro, FACEIT has served as an unofficial proving ground for several standout pro players. The platform claims to have optimized the path to a professional environment, supporting the rise of stars such as Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, Robin “ropz” Kool, and Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov. M0NESY, now a rising star with G2 Esports, concluded the CS:GO era on FACEIT with the highest Elo rating.
Season one of FACEIT CS2 will span four months, with each new season commencing with a soft-Elo recalibration.
