Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) currently lacks some of the features that were present in its predecessor, CS:GO. On November 20, players expressed their desire to see one particular feature added to CS2: a comprehensive stats tracking system. However, they emphasized that the feature would need significant improvements before being implemented.
A Reddit user named Feenoh sparked a discussion by sharing a screenshot of the basic stats tracking system that CS:GO had during its initial release in 2012. Many players questioned why the game no longer offers similar tracking capabilities. While there are third-party websites like Leetify or Csstats that can track statistics, players believe that the game should have an integrated default tracker.
CS:GO did have its own stats tracker for most of its 11-year existence. Initially, it was quite basic, as shown in Feenoh’s screenshot. In 2021, Valve introduced CS:GO Stats 360, a monthly subscription service priced at $0.99. This service allowed players to monitor various statistics such as matches played, weapon performance, and kill counts.
However, the introduction of CS:GO Stats 360 was met with criticism from the community. Players viewed it as a monetization tactic by Valve and felt that charging for a basic in-game stats tracker was unjustifiable.
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that a stats tracking feature will be added to CS2 anytime soon. The game was released in late September, and there have been no indications of Valve implementing a stats tracker. While third-party websites fulfill this role adequately, many players still hope for Valve to introduce an official and improved stats tracking system.
