CS2 Brings Back Demo Recording System After Five-Week Hiatus

Derek Morgan

Valve has finally responded to player demands and reestablished the demo recording system in CS2. The feature had been disabled for the past five weeks, much to the frustration of the playerbase. However, with the latest update on Nov. 8, players can now once again download and watch their demos in CS2.

The demo recording system was initially disabled by Valve in order to increase server capacity. But this decision left players without a crucial tool for reviewing their gameplay highlights and utilizing third-party statistics trackers like Leetify and CsStats.gg.

During the period when the demo recording system was unavailable, players had to rely on third-party recording software. Now, with the system back in place, they can easily access and analyze their demos within CS2 itself. However, it should be noted that all data from the past five weeks appears to have been lost.

The Nov. 8 update also addressed several other issues that players had been facing in CS2, including the subtick system. This marks the second significant patch in less than a week, indicating that Valve is actively listening to community feedback and working towards improving the game.

While CS2 is still a work in progress compared to CS:GO, the rampant cheating problem remains a major concern. Many players have already switched to third-party matchmaking services like FACEIT and Gamers Club, which offer stronger anti-cheating measures. However, with the reintroduction of the demo recording system, players can now gather evidence and report cheaters more effectively to Valve.

Despite the ongoing issue of cheaters, the return of the demo recording system is a positive step forward for CS2. Players can now review their gameplay and make accurate reports, while also hoping that Valve will address the cheating problem in a timely manner.
