CS2 Bug Allows Faster Weapon Reloads

Players Discover Bug Allowing Faster Weapon Reloads in CS2

A bug has been found in CS2 that allows players to reload their weapons at a faster rate. This bug can be easily reproduced by swapping the gun twice while reloading. Although it is unclear how long this bug has been present in CS2, it was recently shared on Reddit on November 20th. A video demonstration shows a player reloading an AUG in approximately 3.9 seconds without utilizing the bug. However, when the player employs the double-swapping trick, the reload time decreases to 3.1 seconds.

While it remains uncertain if this bug works for all weapons in CS2, one player claims to have tested it with the Famas and M4A1-S, both yielding successful results. The Famas reloaded in 2.8 seconds using the double-swapping bug, compared to the normal reload time of 3.4 seconds. Similarly, the M4A1-S reloaded in 2.7 seconds with the trick, surpassing the regular reload time of 3.1 seconds.

Interestingly, some Reddit users believed this bug was intentional, as it has become a common practice in Counter-Strike to swap weapons while reloading. This habit dates back to CS: 1.6, where it was possible to achieve a faster reload by skipping the reload animation. However, this trick did not work in CS:GO.

To utilize the reload bug, players simply need to press the keys “3”, “1”, “3”, and “1” after initiating the reload. The default keybind for the knife is “3”, while “1” represents the primary weapon. Although the advantage may seem minimal at first glance, it can make a significant difference in combat situations, potentially determining whether a player eliminates an enemy or falls victim to an opponent who capitalizes on the reload sound cue.

The player who shared this bug on Reddit claims to have emailed Valve, suggesting that the developers may address and fix this issue soon. Valve has already released several updates for CS2 this month, addressing various community concerns.

Dot Esports has reached out to Valve for comment on this matter.
