CS2 Player Wrongfully Banned for Using AMD Anti-Lag Feature, Loses $100,000 Worth of Items

Xavier Ward

A CS2 player recently experienced a devastating setback when they were wrongfully banned from the game due to Valve’s anti-cheat system flagging them for using AMD’s Anti-Lag feature. This unjust ban resulted in the loss of their valuable weapon skin collection, which was estimated to be worth over $100,000.

On October 13, the player took to social media to express their frustration, stating that they had never cheated and believed the ban was triggered by the use of AMD’s Anti-Lag+ feature. This feature, designed to reduce input-to-response delay, has unfortunately been causing false positives and leading to account suspensions.

Neon, the affected player, had amassed a collection of more than 1000 CS skins, including rare items like a Factory New Butterfly Knife Fade valued at over $3,000 and a Field-Tested Dragon Lore. However, their account was now inaccessible due to the ban.

While false positives have become more common with VAC’s increased activity in banning players, cheating remains a prevalent issue in CS2. Many professional players have voiced their concerns about the state of the game.

In response to these wrongful bans, Valve has advised players to refrain from using the Anti-Lag feature and to disable it until a resolution is reached between Valve and AMD. By doing so, players can avoid being mistakenly flagged by VAC and facing a ban. Valve has also urged AMD to promptly release a fix for the issue, offering hope for a swift solution.
