CS2 Ranked System: New Bugs Allow Players to Break Smokes Through Walls

Derek Morgan

Since the release of CS2 last month, players have been tirelessly grinding through the game’s new ranked system, battling it out for dominance. However, despite the game’s impressive visuals, there are still a few issues that need to be addressed by Valve.

CS2 introduced innovative smokes that respond to different weapons and utility on the map, including frag grenades that can temporarily clear away the smoke. This exciting addition thrilled long-time fans of the franchise, but it has also unveiled some glitches that could be exploited by well-coordinated teams.

One such bug was recently discovered by content creator NadeKing. In a video shared on social media, he demonstrated how frag grenades can affect smokes that have popped behind a wall. By throwing a smoke grenade in A mini on Nuke, he blocked off vision to the outside portion of the map. Typically, players would have to wait for the smoke to dissipate and hold an angle. However, if teams can find a lineup to land a frag grenade on the roof of A mini, they can bypass this waiting period.

When NadeKing throws the frag grenade on the roof of A mini, the smoke is completely cleared, allowing players to peek through. Furthermore, the frag grenade doesn’t damage any players inside A mini, enabling them to push through the smoke without harm. This broken interaction could catch enemy players off-guard with a quick peek or a sneaky close angle.

Although Valve has not yet acknowledged this bug, it may be patched soon if players start exploiting it more frequently. Professional teams could also utilize this method to quickly gain advantageous positions by clearing angles without the enemy team realizing it.
