Counter-Strike 2 players are demanding that Valve eliminate an unintentional mechanic in CS:GO that causes grenades to be canceled if players switch weapons too quickly after initiating the throw animation. This mechanic has been described as one of the most frustrating aspects of the game, and players want it gone.
One player has taken the lead in urging Valve to remove this mechanic, demonstrating how it works and highlighting its infuriating nature. Many players, including long-term ones, were unaware of this issue until now, but having experienced it, they agree that it needs to be addressed.
“I can’t count how many times this has happened to me. It’s incredibly annoying, but I admit it’s my own fault. I would love to see it removed,” said one player. Another player added, “I’ve had this happen to me around 200 times. It’s super frustrating.”
However, while some players believe that this mechanic is a design flaw that should be fixed or removed in the sequel, others argue that it is actually a skill-based feature, and the problem lies in players not utilizing it correctly. When executed with precise timing, players can successfully switch weapons after throwing a grenade. “This is a skill that shouldn’t be removed,” stated one player. Another player explained, “Being able to quickly switch to another weapon after throwing a grenade is a skill, and the consequence of missing the timing is experiencing this cancellation.”
The community appears divided on this matter, with approximately half of the players wanting the mechanic removed. However, even if it remains, players can overcome it with practice and skill, so it is not an insurmountable obstacle.
Counter-Strike 2 is set to be released in the coming weeks, and it will introduce changes to grenades, including new animations. Smoke grenades have also undergone significant overhauls.
