CD Projekt Red developers have reassured players that the upcoming Cyberpunk 2.0 DLC and Phantom Liberty expansion will not actually melt their CPUs. However, it is important for players to ensure that their cooling systems are functioning properly and that their PCs meet the system requirements.
Earlier this week, developer Filip Pierściński had caused concern among fans by suggesting that the DLC would utilize over 90 percent of a user’s eight-core CPU, potentially putting a significant strain on their PC. This led to speculation that the DLC might cause PCs to overheat and even melt down.
While Pierściński’s statement may have been exaggerated or intended as a joke, it still raised worries among players. Fortunately, the developer clarified on Twitter that Cyberpunk 2.0 and Phantom Liberty will not actually melt CPUs. However, it is still important to have a functioning cooling system and meet the minimum system requirements to ensure optimal performance.
Given Cyberpunk’s reputation for performance issues, it is concerning that the DLC will require a powerful PC to run smoothly. Even the recommended specifications exceed what most players have. However, if your PC can handle Starfield, it should be able to handle Cyberpunk as well.
