World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore has proven to be a challenging endeavor for players worldwide. Despite the difficulty of reaching level 60 without dying, the death tolls released by Blizzard today are truly staggering.
In a recent social media post, Blizzard revealed that since the launch of Hardcore mode on Aug. 24, there have been a total of 2,961,039 deaths. This means that, on average, a character dies every 10.6 seconds.
To pay tribute to the fallen, Blizzard created an entertaining video showcasing the most common causes of death in Hardcore mode. Surprisingly, the leading cause of death is fall damage.
Rank | Cause of Death | Number of Deaths |
---|---|---|
10 | Kobold Tunneler | 28,437 |
9 | Porcine Entourage | 29,039 |
8 | Drowning | 33,277 |
7 | Other players | 34,894 |
6 | Defias Pillager | 35,070 |
5 | Wendigo | 35,091 |
4 | Defias Trapper | 40,715 |
3 | Voidwalker minion | 44,891 |
2 | Kobold Miner | 67,717 |
1 | Falling | 74,273 |
It is astonishing that more players have met their demise due to fall damage than any other cause in the game. On average, there is one death per minute resulting from falling. Even TimTheTatman would be impressed—or maybe not?
Other significant threats in Hardcore mode include aggressive mobs in areas with frequent respawns or a high concentration of enemies. The majority of deaths occur in lower-level areas, which is understandable considering the larger player population in those regions.
