Destiny 2 and The Witcher have joined forces to bring players a new collaboration featuring stunning armor sets, a ghost, a ship, and exciting Finishers. However, the high price of these cosmetics is causing disappointment among players once again.
The collaboration skins are set to release on Nov. 28 alongside the Season of the Wish. Based on previous collaborations in Destiny 2, each armor set is expected to cost a hefty 2,000 Silver (equivalent to $20 in cash). This steep price tag for a single armor set is raising eyebrows.
On Nov. 21, JpDeathBlade pointed out on Twitter that during Steam’s autumn sale, players can purchase The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition for just $12.49, which is even less than the cost of one of the collaboration armor sets.
Many players agree that the collaboration skins look fantastic but are simply too expensive. They express a desire to pay more for new content that allows them to earn these cosmetics, especially considering the current lack of activities in the game. Content creators like Aztecross also suggest that a fair price for the sets would be around $10-$15.
The excessive monetization in Destiny 2 has been a topic of discussion for some time now. With numerous Eververse cosmetics, Event Cards, and increased prices for the Season Pass, players feel that the game is relying too heavily on cosmetic purchases. While monetization is necessary for the game’s survival, it would be more favorable if innovative content was released alongside these cosmetic bundles, even if they were priced at $20.
It is not surprising that we are seeing collaboration skins at full price during this time. This news comes shortly after it was revealed that Bungie experienced a 45 percent revenue miss this year. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the game’s future, some players may still choose to invest in at least one of the armor sets.
