Destiny 2 Preorder Bug Allows Players to Unlock Rare Exotic Weapon, but It Won’t Last

superadmin

Reports are circulating about a bug in Destiny 2 that allows players to purchase and then cancel extended editions of The Final Shape expansion, unlocking a rare Exotic weapon in the process. However, this loophole is not expected to last long.

The Exotic fusion rifle, Tessellation, is set to be officially released in Destiny 2 in early February with the launch of The Final Shape expansion. But players who preorder the expansion’s Annual Pass can get their hands on the weapon early, just like with the Quicksilver Storm Exotic auto rifle from this year’s Lightfall expansion.

Rumors have been spreading that players who preorder The Final Shape and then refund their orders are able to keep Tessellation. This loophole was also present earlier this year with the Lightfall expansion, where players on console could preorder Neomuna, acquire Quicksilver Storm, and then cancel the pre-order while still keeping the weapon.

It’s worth noting that this loophole has been used before with other expansions like Osteo Striga (The Witch Queen) and No Time to Explain (Beyond Light), but those weapons were not usable until the expansion went live.

However, it seems that players who have used this trick in the past have reported that after the expansion was released, the game detected the canceled pre-order and deleted the weapon. So while players may be able to enjoy the fusion rifle for a short time, they may ultimately lose it once the game catches up.

It’s important to mention that we do not encourage exploiting this bug. Xbox preorders don’t charge a payment method until closer to release, so no money is exchanged. But for PlayStation and Steam users, funds are immediately withdrawn, and refund methods would need to be followed.

Regardless of this bug, Tessellation will be available to all players who purchase The Final Shape in February 2024. In the meantime, Season of the Witch has begun, offering plenty of new content for Destiny players to enjoy.
