Diablo 4 players are furious about the game’s social features, especially after discovering that even the handheld release, Diablo Immortal, has a superior version. Fans are expressing their disappointment, claiming that this highlights the lackluster social aspects of one of Blizzard’s flagship games.
Diablo Immortal offers dungeon and party finders, a castle defense event, and raids, while Diablo 4 is still waiting to receive any of these features months after its release. Some players argue that Diablo 4 does have clan features, but that’s about the extent of its friend mechanics.
Although some players acknowledge that Diablo Immortal is marketed as more of an MMO than Diablo 4, most believe that this excuse is not acceptable for Blizzard developers. They argue that Diablo 4 plays like an MMO and should therefore have similar features.
However, before the game’s release, the developers debunked this notion. Diablo 4’s lead designer stated that outside of the region’s capital, players would only encounter around six to eight others in the open areas. This means that while Diablo 4 is considered a multiplayer game, it does not reach the scale of MMOs like Final Fantasy 14 or World of Warcraft. On the other hand, Diablo Immortal is a true MMORPG.
Regardless of how Diablo 4 is classified, players are unhappy with the lack of social features and are demanding that Blizzard at least add a party finder, if nothing else.
Table: Diablo 4 Social Features Comparison
| Feature | Diablo 4 | Diablo Immortal |
|——————|———-|—————-|
| Dungeon Finder | None | Available |
| Party Finder | None | Available |
| Castle Defense | None | Available |
| Raids | None | Available |
| Clan Features | Limited | None |
Diablo 4’s deficiency in social features has long been a major concern for the community, with some even labeling it an “anti-social multiplayer game.” Despite player complaints since day one, there has been no response from the developers regarding any plans to improve the social aspects of the game.
