Players of Baldur’s Gate 3 were left disappointed when it was revealed that Larian Studios had abandoned plans to include a werewolf companion in the game. Data miners discovered evidence of a character named Helia, a halfling werewolf bard, hidden in the game’s files. Voice recordings suggested that she was intended to be a companion at some point during development. Fans expressed their disappointment and speculated on the missed potential for dark storylines and intriguing dynamics with other characters.
Although Helia did not make it into the final game, players remain hopeful that she or another werewolf character may appear in future DLC. Some even anticipate the introduction of a werewolf class, as players could already become werewolves in Baldur’s Gate 2 through the shapeshifting skill of the Druid class. The decision now lies with the developers, and if they choose to add the character and class in a future update or DLC, it would undoubtedly please the player base. However, if they do not, players may resort to using mods to experience playing as a werewolf.
Fortunately, there is already an existing werewolf mod available online for those who wish to explore this gameplay option.
