Disney Dreamlight Valley’s first expansion pass, A Rift in Time, has sparked controversy among players. However, Gameloft aims to address players’ concerns with their recent showcase on November 1st, providing a glimpse into the future of the game and a detailed look at the A Rift in Time expansion pass.
During the showcase, Gameloft revealed the complete contents of the expansion pass, which includes three massive biomes. The developers stated that when combined, these biomes are approximately the same size as the original village, fulfilling players’ requests for more space to decorate and place villager houses.
The expansion pass takes place on Eternity Isle, divided into three distinct biomes: Ancient’s Landing, Glittering Dunes, and Wild Tangle. Each biome introduces new critters, crops, and resources for players to explore and utilize.
In addition to the expansive new areas, the A Rift in Time expansion pass allows players to recruit three iconic Disney characters: Eve from Wall-E, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, and Rapunzel from Tangled. While Jafar from Aladdin is not initially recruitable, he plays a central role in the overarching storyline and may become a valley villager in future updates. Two more characters will also be introduced in later updates to the expansion pass.
The expansion pass unfolds in three phases, with the storyline gradually expanding through subsequent updates. This means that the initial content is just the beginning, promising even more exciting additions in the future.
A notable feature of A Rift in Time is the introduction of the Royal Hourglass, a new Royal Tool. This tool allows players to uncover lost treasures scattered throughout Eternity Isle and repair time rifts caused by Jafar’s schemes.
While the A Rift in Time expansion pass offers promising content and the assurance of being comparable in size to the base game, it comes at a price of $29.99 in addition to the base game cost.
The official release date for A Rift in Time is December 5th, coinciding with a major update that includes the multiplayer ValleyVerse, a winter Star Path, and the arrival of the pumpkin king. With so much to look forward to before the end of 2023, Disney Dreamlight Valley players have an exciting journey ahead.
