Fans eagerly awaiting the chance to play Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter at the SPIEL ESSEN tabletop convention in Germany on Oct. 5 were met with long lines and product shortages. The high demand for the trading card game has been a recurring issue since its release on Aug. 18, leaving many fans frustrated.
The shortage of Disney Lorcana products has been a problem for both Ravensburger and fans alike. The initial release at GenCon saw massive crowds and chaotic lines, and the situation was no different at SPIEL ESSEN. Some fans had to wait for hours just to get their hands on limited items like Starter Decks or an Illumineer’s Trove.
Ravensburger has announced plans to restock limited products, such as the Starter Decks, in October. However, many local game stores and retailers in the United States are still struggling to meet the demand from eager fans. Despite the shortages, players at local game store leagues have been finding ways to enjoy the game with casual formats that require fewer cards.
The second chapter of Disney Lorcana, titled Rise of the Floodborn, is scheduled to be released in November. As with the first chapter, local game stores will have the product first, followed by larger retailers two weeks later. Fans are concerned that the demand for Rise of the Floodborn will once again lead to product shortages, but Ravensburger has assured the community that there will be enough supply this time. They have even planned a second printing of The First Chapter, set to be released in December for the North American region.
Fans can look forward to getting their hands on Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter products in October, and the reprint of the first set in December. Additionally, Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn will be released at the end of November and the beginning of December.
