Ahead of the official release date, Walmart has allegedly broken the street date for Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter, selling the trading card game in two different states. Meanwhile, Ravensburger has announced that Disney parks will have limited supplies of the game available starting on Aug. 28.
The anticipation for Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter is undeniable, with collectors and players flocking to GenCon and local game stores for the soft launch on Aug. 18. Despite prices being higher than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), enthusiasts were eager to get their hands on the product.
Ravensburg has set the official release date for Disney Lorcana on Sept. 1, when major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy are expected to have the game in stock. However, it appears that some Walmart stores have jumped the gun and put the products on shelves early.
It is disheartening to see that big box stores are not honoring pricing or the street date. Hopefully, there will be clear communication about future waves of product availability at local game stores. This situation is unfortunate.
Prices at Walmart are closer to MSRP, as the retail giant is selling the three individual Starter Decks, booster packs, Gift Sets, and Treasure Troves. In response to the high demand for Disney Lorcana, Ravensburger has announced that a limited supply of Starter Decks and Gift Sets will be available at Disney parks starting on Aug. 28.
Players and collectors may also have the option to purchase all Disney Lorcana: The First Chapter products on the shop Disney website, beginning at 2am CT on Sept. 1. Details about the availability of products after Sept. 1 have not been disclosed at this time.
