Dplus KIA Qualifies for Worlds 2023, Extending Their Streak to Five Consecutive Appearances

superadmin

Ever since Dplus KIA (formerly DAMWON Gaming) joined the LCK in 2019, they have consistently been at the top of the standings. This year, despite a disappointing summer regular split, DK managed to secure a spot at Worlds 2023, which will be held in their home country of South Korea.

In the Regional Finals, DK faced off against Hanwha Life Esports in a hard-fought match on August 26. Despite not being the favorites, DK emerged victorious with a 3-1 victory, securing the last Worlds spot. All four games of the series lasted over 30 minutes.

This qualification adds to DK’s incredible record as one of the elite organizations in the LCK. Since joining the league, they have always made it to Worlds, either through winning the championship or the regional finals. Notably, Canyon and ShowMaker have been the only two players to remain on the roster throughout the past five years.

DK’s Unprecedented Streak

DK’s qualification for Worlds 2023 marks their fifth consecutive appearance at the tournament. This achievement is unmatched by any other team in the LCK. It is worth mentioning that ADC player Deft, who won the title with DRX last year, will be making his sixth appearance at Worlds. He and Pyosik are the only members from the world championship roster who can participate this year.

Furthermore, Deft holds a unique record of playing for six different teams at Worlds. He has previously represented Samsung Blue, EDward Gaming, KT Rolster, DRX, and Hanwha Life Esports. This will be his eighth appearance at the tournament, equaling Faker’s record.

Consistent Performances at Worlds

DK’s consistency at Worlds is remarkable. They have always made it to the top eight teams in every tournament they have attended. This year, they will be joining Gen.G, T1, and KT Rolster as the LCK quartet representing the region.

With the new format and the support of the home crowd, DK could potentially be a dark horse among the eastern teams at Worlds 2023. Their track record and strong roster make them a formidable contender in the tournament.

Conclusion

Dplus KIA’s qualification for Worlds 2023 extends their streak to five consecutive appearances at the tournament. Their consistent performances and strong roster make them a force to be reckoned with. As they represent the LCK alongside Gen.G, T1, and KT Rolster, all eyes will be on DK as they aim to make their mark on the international stage once again.
