Echo Wins World of Warcraft Dragonflight’s Third Race to World First, Fans Blame Twitch for Disruptive Ads

Xavier Ward

World of Warcraft Dragonflight’s third Race to World First (RWF) has concluded with Echo emerging as the victor. However, fans who followed the race on Twitch are expressing their frustration with the constant disruptive ads that occurred at inconvenient moments. These ads often interrupted crucial gameplay moments, causing annoyance and hindering the viewing experience.

Reddit user ThaRock44 voiced the sentiments of many fans, highlighting how the ads would occur during smooth sailing moments for top contenders like Echo and Team Liquid. This disrupted the flow of information that viewers were eagerly anticipating. The frequency of the ads, occurring approximately every five minutes, further exacerbated the issue.

Compared to traditional TV commercials, Twitch ads feel invasive and disruptive. The stream continues while the ads play, leaving viewers out of the loop if they miss critical moments. Although streamers can typically control when these ad breaks occur, the intense focus on the race itself made it difficult for Echo and Liquid to manage them effectively.

Fans also expressed frustration with Twitch running ads during the final phase of the encounter, seemingly attempting to coerce viewers into subscribing to witness the kill. This further detracted from the overall viewing experience and left fans feeling frustrated.

While the Race to World First has concluded with Echo claiming victory over Liquid, there may be future races in Dragonflight’s season four. Speculation suggests that previous raids may be reintroduced or instances from past expansions could be added to spice up the competition. The outcome of these potential races remains to be seen.
