Riot Games developers have taken immediate action to address the skyrocketing win rate and popularity of K’Sante in ranked play. Just hours after the release of League of Legends Patch 13.21, emergency changes were shipped to tackle the issue. The recent mini-rework of K’Sante has contributed to his dominance, prompting Riot to swiftly roll back some of his damage capabilities.
The hotfix update, implemented at 6pm CT on Thursday, specifically targets the power of K’Sante’s Q ability, Ntofo Strikes, before he acquires three items. Although it is still too early to gauge the impact of the changes, as only a few thousand matches have been played since the update, it is expected that the win rate and presence of K’Sante will be affected.
Prior to Patch 13.21, K’Sante had already seen a significant increase in win rate, reaching 51.77 percent in the top lane, according to Lolalytics. This marks a considerable improvement from just two weeks ago when K’Sante struggled to win more than 48.88 percent of matches. Similarly, in the mid lane, his win rate has experienced a nine percent turnaround in the same timeframe.
With the release of Patch 13.21, K’Sante’s ban rates have also surged, rising from slightly over two percent to 7.92 percent at present. However, it is anticipated that his victories may decline in the coming weeks as players adapt to the numerous tweaks and stat changes introduced.
Considering the rapid deployment of this hotfix, it is evident that Riot Games is concerned about K’Sante’s long-term strength. Therefore, it is likely that the developers will closely monitor his performance until the end of the season. It would not be surprising if Patch 13.22 includes further adjustments to K’Sante.
In addition to the K’Sante changes, the October 26 update also included a minor adjustment for Ivern. This change prevents Rift Heralds from ignoring Daisy and instead causes them to aggressively target Ivern.
