The latest update in VALORANT’s PBE 7.09 patch brings exciting changes to some agents, including our beloved animal companions. Cypher’s Trapwire has been improved, and now Skye’s Trailblazer and Fade’s Prowlers have enhanced athletic abilities to avoid these wires. Let’s explore how this new trick will benefit Cypher and impact Skye and Fade’s playstyle.
In an effort to enhance the effectiveness of Cypher’s Trapwire, Skye’s Trailblazer and Fade’s Prowlers have gained enhanced athletic abilities to evade the wires. This change aims to add integrity and effectiveness to Cypher’s ability, as explained by Riot developer Jo-Ellen Aragon in a Reddit post.
The Trapwire, a small trap device set up by Cypher between walls to catch enemies, now concusses those caught in its line in just 1.5 seconds, half the previous delay. Additionally, the Trapwire now recharges itself, allowing it to trap multiple enemies unless its anchors are broken.
This change to Cypher’s Trapwire is significant for Skye and Fade’s dogs. Previously, Trailblazer and Prowlers were used to intentionally break the Trapwire by getting caught in it. However, with the new changes, the wire can set itself up again even if broken by the dogs.
To balance this change, Skye’s Trailblazers now have an adjusted hitbox that allows them to go underneath Trapwires placed at mid-height or higher. Fade’s Prowlers, on the other hand, can go underneath Trapwires placed at head height and over Trapwires placed at agents’ feet.
It’s difficult to determine if this change is a buff or a nerf for Skye and Fade. While the Trapwire changes are undoubtedly a buff for Cypher, the interaction between the wire and the dogs is still debatable. However, for now, we can consider it a buff, as the dogs have learned new tricks to avoid most Trapwires.
Overall, these enhancements to Skye and Fade’s companions in VALORANT Patch 7.09 bring exciting possibilities for gameplay. The improved athletic abilities of Trailblazer and Prowlers add depth to Cypher’s Trapwire strategy, making the game even more thrilling for players.
