ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023: Another $1 Million Dota 2 Tournament Confirmed

superadmin

ESL is set to host another Dota 2 tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a prize pool of $1 million. This announcement comes after the success of DreamLeague Season 21, which took the Dota 2 community by surprise. ESL aims to establish itself as the leading organizer in the Dota 2 esports scene for the upcoming year.

The tournament, ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, will take place two months after The International 2023, starting on December 11th. This timing reduces the available time for top Dota 2 teams to make roster changes, as the final month of the year is typically dedicated to transfers.

ESL has been proactive in organizing high-stakes tournaments this year, including the Riyadh Masters 2023. Their efforts have reassured fans who were uncertain about the future of Dota 2 after the discontinuation of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC).

In addition to the substantial prize pools, ESL has strategically scheduled their events to minimize downtime in the competitive scene between Majors. This approach has been well-received by professional players and the community, reminiscent of the prime days of competitive Dota 2 between 2014 and 2017.

N0tail, the two-time TI winner and captain of OG, expressed his enthusiasm for the removal of the DPC, stating that it was “the best thing that happened to Dota since before DPC.” He also highlighted the need for more events in Europe, the most competitive region in Dota 2. Despite having notable organizers like ESL, Europe has been lacking LAN events due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the structure of the DPC and Majors.

Overall, ESL’s commitment to hosting high-quality tournaments with significant prize pools and strategic scheduling has revitalized the Dota 2 scene. With the announcement of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, fans can look forward to another exciting event in the competitive Dota 2 calendar.
