The championship apparel consisted of a hoodie and T-shirt featuring a simple graphic of the team with the words “VALORANT,” “world champions,” and “2023.” The design lacked creativity and appeared to be hastily placed on a basic faded blue background. Moreover, the graphic had already been used on the team’s social media platforms.
In their apology, EG admitted that the merchandise was not up to par and thanked fans for their feedback. They promised to collaborate with a community designer to create a more comprehensive championship collection, which will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
While some speculate that the rushed design was due to the team’s lack of expectation to win, it seems unwise for a major organization with a highly regarded roster not to have prepared merchandise in advance. The VALORANT Champions event showcased a significant fan base willing to purchase merchandise, but only if it meets their quality standards.
The original championship tee and hoodie are still available in the EG store, although their design may not appeal to everyone.
