Evil Geniuses (EG) GC shocked the VALORANT Game Changers North American scene by defeating Shopify Rebellion in the lower bracket final to secure a spot in the Series Three grand final. Despite being together for only 20 days, EG GC, led by Melisa “Theia” Mundorff, showcased their dominance and revenge against Shopify with a convincing 3-1 victory, including a remarkable 13-0 win on map four.
EG GC’s success can be attributed to Theia’s extensive experience in competitive FPS games, having started her journey as a young aspiring Counter-Strike pro at the age of 15. Additionally, Lorrian “Lorri” Elad, a former core member of Shopify Rebellion, brought valuable insights and knowledge of her former teammates, contributing to EG GC’s triumph.
In tomorrow’s grand final, EG GC will face off against the formidable Version1, the perpetual final boss of the North American VALORANT scene. Not only will EG GC have the opportunity to make history once again by continuing their winning streak, but they will also secure a spot in this year’s Game Changers World Championship if they emerge victorious.
While Version1 has already qualified for the main event through circuit points, EG GC must defeat them in the grand final to secure the winner’s automatic qualification. If EG GC falls short, Shopify Rebellion will earn the qualification instead, granting them their second appearance at the global LAN.
