Battlefy’s official list of invited ALGS participants had some unexpected surprises. One of them was the inclusion of “ex-FaZe” in the initial lineup. However, it remains unclear whether this was a mistake or if something else is going on behind the scenes.
Two NA teams caught my attention when updating Dot’s ALGS invite piece with Battlefy information on October 23. These were the ‘ex-‘ entries for NRG and FaZe. While FaZe has since reverted back to their original team, questions remain about the roster composition. Are Snip3down, Phonyhead, and Frexs still part of FaZe?
Upon further investigation, I discovered that the Apex Team page on the official FaZe Clan website has been blacked-out. Other esports teams, such as R6, Halo, and FIFA, have their full rosters displayed, but the Apex team is hidden. Only Frexs and Phonyhead have their images uploaded, while Snip3down, Gent, and Deeds are blacked-out. NICKMERCS is nowhere to be seen.
This raises interesting questions about the current state of FaZe Clan’s Apex roster. Could it be that Phony and Frexs are still with FaZe, while the other members have been replaced? The evidence from the official website suggests this possibility.
FaZe Clan has experienced significant success with their latest Apex roster, consistently placing in the top rankings. However, the recent acquisition of FaZe from Complexity adds another layer of complexity to the ALGS lobby. With three potential links to FaZe Clan (FaZe, Complexity, and Tripods), it is unclear how the roster will shape up.
While some argue that Battlefy is not always accurate, past leaks have proven their reliability, such as the Fire Beavers moving to Aurora. Additionally, the changes on FaZe’s website further fuel speculation about a roster change. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, and Phonyhead has avoided addressing any rumors, simply stating, “I don’t know, don’t ask me questions.”
It is worth noting that Battlefy also includes other teams with known roster or organizational changes, such as Team Stability becoming Already There and Disguised reverting back to DNO. The listings for Dark Zero and Moist Esports indicate their moves or decisions to stay in their respective regions. If FaZe’s listing is indeed a mistake, it raises questions about how such an error occurred.
Even TSM Manager minustempo witnessed the change live and hinted at a possible accidental leak by Battlefy. The question on everyone’s mind is whether FaZe is breaking up or if this was simply a mistake.
While the fate of FaZe remains uncertain, it is highly unlikely that Snip3down would be dropped from the roster, considering his integral role in multiple successful teams throughout Y3. The future of FaZe, as well as the rosters for ex-NRG and 100 Thieves, hangs in the balance.
