Genshin Impact players were in for a surprise when they reached the maximum level with Fontaine’s Chief Justice Neuvillette. The Hydro character dropped a bombshell of lore information that potentially spoils the upcoming main storyline.
Neuvillette reveals, “Now that I have reclaimed one of the Seven Authorities from the hands of the usurpers, I have regained my true form. I am now a fully-fledged dragon, powerful enough to judge the rest of the gods. My final destiny is to judge the Usurper-King in the heavens above. But until that time comes, I will lend my power to you.”
This revelation ties in with a quote from the “Calamitous Tread” Archon quest, where Neuvillette mentions that the First Usurper seized a part of the dragons’ power, which now serves as the basis for the Archons’ Authorities.
Putting these pieces together, it seems that Neuvillette has reclaimed his authority, indicating the retrieval or destruction of the Hydro Gnosis. However, these events have not yet occurred in the game’s canon.
Each region in Teyvat has seen the Archon’s Gnosis stolen by the Fatui Harbingers or willingly handed over to them. These Gnosis are then delivered to Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon of Snezhnaya. While it has become expected for the Archons to lose their Gnosis, Neuvillette’s dialogue confirms that something significant will happen to Furina’s.
One Teyvat Traveler explains, “He pretty explicitly says it already happened. The problem is that nothing of the sort has actually happened yet. This basically confirms that he either gets the Hydro Gnosis or that it is destroyed, which is a pretty huge spoiler.”
Despite the major lore spoiler, the exact outcome of the situation involving Neuvillette, Furina, and the Hydro Gnosis remains unknown. The presence of the notorious Knave Arlecchino adds further intrigue, as the Fatui Harbingers will undoubtedly fight to prevent the Gnosis from slipping away.
