Fortnite’s latest update, released on October 10, has brought back the highly anticipated Fortnitemares event, featuring new skins and gameplay features. However, what has truly captured the attention of the community is a possible tease for the return of Chapter One’s classic map.
The update includes a revamped user interface, but it is the new background in the pre-game lobby that has sparked speculation. The background showcases a time machine with a specific date displayed: “2018/07/12.” This date coincides with the start of Fortnite Chapter One, season five, which began on July 12, 2018.
Players are now speculating that they may have the opportunity to use the time machine and revisit the map as it was in July 2018, or at least experience something similar to it. Leakers have previously hinted at a time machine landing on Frenzy Fields, with elements of the classic map appearing in the surrounding area. However, it remains uncertain whether players will be able to utilize the time machine once it arrives.
If these speculations prove true, long-time Fortnite fans will have the chance to relive the nostalgia of the classic map, which was released over five years ago.
Some players believe that instead of a complete return to the classic map, certain locations from that time period may be introduced to the current map through a time warp. Meanwhile, another group of players has expressed frustration over changes made to the user interface, claiming that it has worsened the overall experience.
